Hello dear followers. In this discussion we'll discuss how to establish a set point for program design, regardless of your fitness background. Essentially a purposeful step in the direction you want to go. Think of it this way, If you are lost in Portland and want travel to New York, understanding where you're current location, knowing how to read a map, and you'll want the best path of travel to the destination. Unless you're into that whole wasting time thing.
Looking back at over 12,000 sessions serviced and triple that of practice on my own fitness it has taken years to understand these concepts, and have yet to master them all.
Think about it, people don't know what they don't know. Many women I coach want to lean up in the thighs. Some even put in hours of proper hard work in the gym, but little do they know that the candles and Glade Plugins in the house can be assassinate progress and with enough exposure can actually cause sex organ cancers. Just Google search phthalates, if you want a fright. Clearly it can get overwhelming so lets further dissect & categorize the moving parts of the lifestyle habits.
As a model when I think of 'Fitness' I see this pentagonal structure that balances on a centered point. Each corner represents a different component to our lives. If any of the components outweigh another then its out of balance, exposed and weak. Here is what the points represent:
Fitness: the present total of the objective sum an individual scores in the following fields:
1-Balanced Relative Strength
3-Work Capacity & Endurance
4-Spirituality & Happiness
I know that I said 'objective sum' but then used subjective qualifiers like spirituality and happiness, seems paradoxical but stay with me. Here is the thing, you are only as strong as your weakest link in life or strength. In football we performed our maxes in weight lifting, sprints, jumps, shuttle runs and the total you scored was ranked with your teammates, the goal is to be #1 in each event. So if you're a running back and bench 465, this is more than enough to play in the NFL, but if you have a 40yd dash time of 4.92, there goes the career. In that case you want to improve speed & explosiveness. The Crossfit Games are scored in a similar matter. Where Rich Froning (a word synonymously used for 'Champion') has averaged the highest finish among his competitors in the last three crossfit games, threepeat (Riley, et al).In the following examples I strive to arm you with better evaluation tools to assess yourself and quantify each category to balance & increase your total score and comprehensively improve your life and fitness.
